A Major Storm is Coming this Evening – Garbage Collection, Parking and Other Recommendations
A major snowstorm is expected to begin around 4pm this evening and continue through Saturday morning. The Village of Pomona would like to remind our residents of the following:
O&R recommends that customers carefully clear snow and ice away from the natural gas regulator and meter as well as any outdoor vents associated with gas equipment. If possible, use a broom instead of a shovel to minimize the chance of damaging the piping. Keeping the equipment and vents clear of ice allow for safe delivery of natural gas.
There is no overnight parking allowed on public streets in Pomona throughout the year, but following the parking rules is even more important during a snow event when the plows need clear access to do their job properly. The Ramapo Police issued over 100 tickets throughout the Town during last Tuesday’s snow event and will be enforcing parking regulations during the upcoming storm.
In addition, people should not park on the streets during the day when they are in need of plowing as vehicles parked on the street interfere with plowing operations.
If a fire hydrant in your neighborhood is blocked by snow, it may slow down firefighters responding to a fire. Please help out by clearing the snow in front of and around hydrants.
